Franky Wah makes Crosstown Rebels debut with Disconnect EP

Franky Wah makes his debut on Crosstown Rebels with a new EP, Disconnect, on 20 June.
Franky Wah’s rise in recent years has been unstoppable. His emotive tunes and club-ready grooves have taken him a run of chart-topping releases while also establishing his SHÈN imprint and events series. He draws on influences ranging from trance and breakbeat to Afro-house and techno and his sound continues to evolve with this newest outing.
The four-tracker sees the UK artist team up with vocal trio Kuuda for two standout collaborations that showcase a deep and melodic approach. The Brighton-based trio has previously collaborated with Hot Since 82, Yousef and Artche and got support from selectors such as Pete Tong and Danny Howard.
The EP opens with the brooding, percussive title cut with commanding vocal work from Kuuda layered over swirling textures and rich basslines. The collaboration continues on Off The Wall, a hazy, after-hours jam, while Desert Dance leans into hypnotic, driving territory with layered synths and sharp low-end rhythms and Freak In The Sheets closes the release with a raw, attitude-filled groove.
