Castion: Grooves from the Island, Beats for the World
Castion returns to Solardo’s Sola with the Circumstances EP, out now. The release follows the Spanish artist’s recent single Fall Out The Beat, featured on Sola Presents: Ibiza 2025 and supported by MK, John Summit, and Jamie Jones. The new EP opens with the deep, techy title track Circumstances, followed by Let The Music Play with And Dancelab founder Fran Ares, and Wanna Come, a collaboration with fellow Tenerife producer Sergio Niño that has already been road-tested at Hideout Festival. Together, the three tracks capture that perfect intersection where House swing meets Tech House grit.
Born and raised in Tenerife, Castion has built a reputation for producing high-impact grooves that carry both underground energy and mainstream edge. With releases on Toolroom, CUFF, Solotoko, and Insomniac, he has become one of the scene’s most consistent names, earning recognition as one of the Top 101 Producers for two consecutive years. His work has been championed by leading figures such as Jamie Jones, The Martinez Brothers, and Solardo, who continue to support his evolution as one of Spain’s most exciting new exports.
In this conversation, Castion opens up about the spark behind Fall Out The Beat, his creative discipline, his relationship with Sola, and how Tenerife’s groove keeps his sound grounded.
What was the first idea that set ‘Fall Out The Beat’ in motion? Did it start from a groove, a vocal hook, or a specific sound that inspired you?
It all started with the vocal hook and the bass melody that got stuck in my head after hearing the voice. I wanted to create a track that could work both on the radio and in the clubs.
The track has a “future-leaning” energy while remaining raw and stripped back. How did you balance that tension between modern and classic elements in the production?
The sample selection is key. Since I’m into the underground scene now, I wanted to create a fresh track with futuristic touches while keeping those old groovy vibes we all love.
The sleazy, seductive vocal adds a lot of character. How did you approach finding or designing that voice? Was it recorded, sampled, or processed uniquely?
Yes, the vocal feels so special. It was actually made from two samples that I chopped, tweaked, and pitched down to make it sound current, fresh, catchy, and unique.
You’ve released before on Solardo’s label. What does coming back to Sola mean for you, and how has your relationship with the label evolved since your first release?
Oh yes, it feels like home now. It means a lot to me that Solardo and the whole Sola team believe in my music. I have a great relationship with Solardo; we’re always in touch, so one thing’s for sure, it won’t be the last one there.
When producing ‘Fall Out The Beat’, did you picture a specific moment or crowd reaction on the dancefloor? How do you test whether a track really “works” in a set?
I visualize my tracks playing at clubs and festivals; that’s what inspires me. I always test my IDs live to see if they’re worth releasing before sending them to labels.
How does growing up in Tenerife influence your sound or mindset as a producer? Do you carry any island rhythms, moods, or energy into your productions?
A few years ago, I felt disconnected from the island since I was into a different music style. But nowadays, I feel very connected to Tenerife because groovy Tech House is trending here with festivals like elrow, La Misa, Mappa, and more. The day after a gig, I sit in the studio and start a new idea, inspired by the night's vibes.
You’ve been named Best Producer several times on 1001Tracklists, and your catalog is vast. What’s your secret to staying consistent without repeating yourself?
It’s been an honor for me to be part of the Top 101 Producers for two years in a row. The key is discipline and passion for music. It may sound cliché, but music is truly all I live for. It’s my A, B, and C plan, and I love it. When I finish a track, all I can think about is starting a new one. It’s a nonstop feeling.
Jamie Jones, The Martinez Brothers, and Solardo have supported your tracks. Do you still get excited when you hear your music played by artists you admire?
I never get used to that. Every time I see a prominent artist supporting my music, I get an incredible rush and a massive sense of excitement. It makes me really happy to see my music working at major events and being loved by such prominent artists.
Walk us through your typical studio day. Are you more of a fast, intuitive creator or someone who perfects every detail over time?
When I feel inspired, I work fast, trying to create the perfect track as soon as possible. But then I take a step back and give myself a few days without listening to it, so when I come back, I can make better decisions and finish the track properly.
With the current wave of raw and tech-infused house, where do you see your sound heading next? Are you exploring new styles or staying rooted in the club energy that defines you?
I’m always keeping my ears fresh by listening to new music and exploring new directions within the House and Tech House scenes. Lately, I’ve been loving the UK sound, but I’ll never leave my groovy style behind. I’m trying to blend both with an extra House touch to make something fresh for 2026.
