5 Tracks That Shaped My House Sound – MYLAMINE
From jazz-infused grooves and soulful chords to raw, sample-driven rhythms, MYLAMINE’s approach to house music is rooted in feeling, musicality, and a love for records that stand the test of time.
For Mixmag Netherlands, the Electronic Brew Records artist digs into his collection to pick five all-time favourites that have shaped his sound, influenced his productions, and continue to inspire him both in the studio and on the dancefloor.
With selections spanning the laid-back charm of Alfredo Avila to the infectious energy of Kolter, MYLAMINE offers a glimpse into the sounds and ideas behind his distinctive take on deep and soulful house. With his new single, Kessi, landing on Electronic Brew Records on October 30, 2026, these five records offer a fitting insight into the musical influences that continue to shape his sound.
1. Alexny – Bourbon Street Cafe
I absolutely love the keys on this track and the whole jazz bar feel it brings. There's something about the way it blends that jazzy attitude with a house groove that really speaks to me. It's the kind of sound I naturally gravitate toward, and that marriage of jazz and house has always been a big influence on my own productions.
2. Alfredo Avila – Take It Easy
There's just something about this track that grabs me every time I hear it. It's not as polished or heavily produced as some other house music out there, but I think that's part of its charm. It reminds me that you don't need a complicated production to make something special. Sometimes a great groove and the right feeling are all you need.
3. Bootie Grove – The Best of Me
I've never been a huge sample-based producer myself, but I have a tremendous amount of respect for artists who really know how to work with samples. Bootie Grove is a perfect example of that. The sample work on this track is pristine, and the way it draws you in is something I really admire. It's a great example of how creative sampling can give a house track so much character.
4. Jazzboiz & Gnork – DiscoBoiz
What a great collaboration. I've been following Gnork for years, and I've always loved his approach to electronic music, similar to artists like Lone. Teaming up with Jazzboiz takes things to a whole different level. Being an actual band, Jazzboiz brings a live, organic feel to the track that really sets it apart. I love that combination of electronic production and live musicianship, and it's something that really resonates with my own approach to house music.
5. Kolter – Duke
This is an all-time great house record for me. It's one of those tracks I genuinely believe you could play for just about anyone, whether they're into house music or not, and they'd love it. The chords are so emotional and beautiful, and the whole track has this effortless appeal that's almost impossible not to appreciate. It's a perfect example of how much feeling you can put into house music.
