UPPING THE TEMPO

(New York, NY) September 22, 2023 – Harnessing the young energy of a rising electronic dance music superstar with the legendary sounds of an iconic, genre-defining band, “En Balaté” is a Parisian musical journey decades in the making. Launching today, the track is a re-work of the famous Zouk song of the same name originally recorded by French Antillean band Kassav’ in 1996. Today, the unstoppable Chloé Caillet presents her take on the track on her label, XCESS RECORDS – and she’s doing it with the original artists by her side.

It all began last year when Caillet created an edit of Kassav’s legendary track “Avèu Dou Dou” that proved so successful she released it on vinyl after clearing it with the band. As a result, Caillet became close to the lead singer, Jean-Claude Naimro, leading to today’s debut which ups the tempo from the original and weaves in additional percussion and synthesizers. It was mixed and mastered by Matthew Styles.

“Jean-Claude sent me the stems for ‘En Balaté’ asking if I wanted to re-work them, which was such an honor,” said Caillet. “Working with Kassav’ - legendary artists who helped define a whole new category of music - is a career highlight. It’s such a happy, uplifting song that brings back memories of simpler times of relaxing and enjoying life. My intention is to share positivity through my music and ‘En Balaté’ is the perfect example of that.”

Chloé Caillet is a Parisian-born, rising icon in the global nightlife music scene. A DJ, producer, multi-instrumentalist and label owner, Caillet’s range is as eclectic as her taste. A Mixmag Breakthrough Artist and DJ Mag Artist to Watch, she released her hotly anticipated EP with CircoLoco Records this past May. A renowned performer, she has played the stages of Coachella, Glastonbury, Tomorrowland, Sónar, Printworks and more, all while holding a DC-10/CircoLoco Residency in Ibiza.
