Seven Label
Berlin artist CRYME has been charting his own course at the intersection of House and Techno for several years now. As his career builds up steam he announced residencies at Amsterdam based DeReünie and also Pornceptual this year plus a debut at Basement NYC - he is doubling down on his work with the launch of his own label SEVEN.
His vision for the label is to play in the space where House and Techno merge.
He says "We love happy, uplifting sounds that set dance floors alight with smiles and love."
Fans can expect "unexpected artist pairings, off-beat remixes and b2b's that you won't hear anywhere else.". The label's tagline is "Smile When You Dance".
Putting that into practice is the label's first 5 track EP: HOLD ON by CRYME himself. The release on vinyl and digital - includes four remixes - two by House artist's and two by Te- chno artists. He has collaborated with House legend Cinthie, Lydia Eisenblätter, Volpe and Obscure Shape to build the label's signature release.
But he isn't stopping just there with a unique musical vision. He also wants to use the label to bring people together and provide exposu- re for under-represented artists.
"At SEVEN we describe our artist roster as Queer and Flinta* leaning - which means we will have more than half of our artists from these groups but we are open to everyone be- cause I want to build a house where everyone is welcome".
He is also inspired by the work pioneered by Aslice in trying to move the industry to a be- tter deal for producers. The label will offer a standard royalty split of 70/30 in the artist's favour with minimum royalty guarantees rare in the underground scene.
He adds "Most underground releases struggle to recover their costs and producers often get paid nothing. We want to try and change that and we hope this artist-first deal will encou- rage producers to give us their best work and also help us to promote it so we can get them paid for their art."
This vision certainly seems to be resonating with artists and the label's release roster al- ready includes some impressive names. With 9 EP's and 2 VA'S planned in 2025 plus a Mix Series, the label is releasing monthly from the end of this year. Artists releasing tracks or remixing for the label include 1morning, Ac- kermann, Andre Zimmer, Ben Reymann, Baka G, Carmen Electro, Christoph Faust, Cinthie, CRYME, DD Boys (Bailey Ibbs & Fergus Sweet- land), Deetron, Eoin DJ, Lydia Eisenblätter, Mesmer, Moody Mehran, Najeh, Oliver Benji (CucaRafa), Obscure Shape, Pink Concrete, Posture, Retromigration, Selessa T, Shaleen, Sibel, Slin, Sparkly Pony, Sol Ortega, Tal Fuss- mann, Vitess, Volpe and Zombies in Miami.
HOLD ON is out on digital and vinyl on 22nd November. Available from the label's Band- camp and via Triple Vision Distribution.
