Seismic Collision. Fatboy Slim and The Rolling Stones Officially Release Legendary Mashup ‘Satisfaction Skank’
In a landmark collaboration that bridges two seismic moments in British music, DJ and producer Fatboy Slim joins UK music royalty The Rolling Stones for the release of ‘Satisfaction Skank’. This track, which has been one of dance music’s most coveted "unreleased" mashups for decades, finally receives an official release via Southern Fried Records and ABKCO Records.
The idea was born in 1999 when Norman Cook playfully fused his then-fresh hit ‘The Rockafeller Skank’ with Keith Richards’ iconic guitar riff and Mick Jagger’s rebellious vocal from ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’. The mashup famously left audiences questioning the very definition of dance music.
For this official release, Norman was entrusted to fully recreate and re-record the track from the original stems, which he notes were delivered in an armored van—a testament to the cultural value of the source material. The result is a no-holds-barred dancefloor weapon that retains the stadium-scale power of the original.
‘Satisfaction Skank’ fuses rock and dance across generations, relying on a shared musical DNA: a relentless energy built around signature repeating riffs. As Fatboy Slim himself states: "It has been a favourite in my DJ sets for over a quarter of a century. I can confirm it is thoroughly road tested and fit for purpose.”
