Prunk Traces Two Decades Of House Music On Sophomore Album ‘Footprints’
Prunk has released his sophomore album, Footprints, a wide-ranging house record built around the people, places and musical relationships that have shaped his journey over the past two decades. Out now via his own PIV imprint, the LP follows his 2023 debut Le Funk while turning its attention toward everything that has happened since.
Where Le Funk explored the influences behind Prunk’s sound, Footprints is more concerned with where those influences have taken him. The album arrives after his biggest summer to date, including a PIV residency in Ibiza and label showcases across Amsterdam, Miami, Santiago and London, reflecting how far the community surrounding the label has expanded.
That sense of movement runs throughout the record. Opening track ‘Eivissa’ immediately points toward Ibiza and the dancefloor memories Prunk has built on the island, before the album begins moving between soulful vocals, warmer house grooves and deeper late-night material. Rather than committing to one specific shade of house, Footprints uses that range to document different stages and relationships within his musical world.
Collaboration is a major part of that story. Riva Starr joins Prunk on ‘I Want Your Love’, featuring Danny Losito, which arrived earlier this summer as the first glimpse of the album. Built around a timeless vocal and classic house references, the track quickly became a fixture in DJ sets and introduced the more celebratory side of the project.
At the center of the LP is its title track, ‘Footprints’, featuring Rona Ray. The collaboration leans into the warmer and more emotive side of Prunk’s production, providing a counterpoint to some of the record’s more stripped-back club tracks. Verso appears on ‘Earth’, Retrouve joins him for ‘Tell You’, while Darius Syrossian brings another dimension to ‘Checking You Out’.
Elsewhere, collaborations with Nate Katz, Midas Field and Coral O’Connor sit alongside Prunk’s solo productions, allowing the album to move between different textures without losing the groove-first approach that has defined his work. ‘Lost In Chicago’ makes another direct geographical reference within the project, while tracks including ‘New Life’, ‘Around’ and ‘No More Waiting’ fill out its solo side.
The album also extends beyond its physical edition through a selection of digital-only tracks, further expanding the project beyond the core vinyl sequence.
Behind Footprints sits the wider story of PIV. Prunk has spent years developing the label into an international platform for house music, combining his own releases with a growing roster of producers while emphasizing collaboration, mentorship and knowledge-sharing between established artists and emerging talent. His stated goal of creating “modern classics” has increasingly become part of the identity surrounding the imprint.
That philosophy makes Footprints feel less like a retrospective than a snapshot of where Prunk currently stands. Twenty years into his relationship with house music, the album collects the collaborators, cities, dancefloors and sounds that have left their mark on him, then uses them as material for whatever comes next.
