Oliver Heldens revisits his house roots on new sam harper collaboration ‘satisfy’

While much of Heldens’ recent output has seen him balancing festival stages, underground club spaces and the continued rise of his HI-LO alias, ‘Satisfy’ feels like a return to the melodic, groove-led house music that first established him as one of the genre’s defining figures. Pairing Harper’s soulful vocals with warm basslines, shimmering synth work and a playful rhythmic pulse, the record arrives as a timely soundtrack for the summer months ahead.

The track began life during a studio session in Brighton alongside Harper, Hannah Wilson and Toby Scott in late 2024. According to Heldens, conversations around consciousness, technology and the overwhelming number of choices that define modern life ultimately shaped the lyrical themes of the song. Originally written over a fast-paced trance-inspired instrumental, the project took on a completely different character months later when Heldens revisited the vocal recordings and began experimenting with a more house-focused direction.

The result is a record that captures the optimism and accessibility that have long sat at the heart of Heldens’ music. Driven by an infectious vocal hook and polished production, ‘Satisfy’ draws from the future house sound he helped popularise during the mid-2010s while subtly updating the formula for a new generation of dancefloors.

The release arrives during another landmark year for the Dutch artist. More than a decade after his breakthrough with ‘Gecko’, Heldens remains one of electronic music’s most versatile and enduring figures, moving seamlessly between commercial success and underground credibility. Alongside maintaining a relentless international touring schedule, he continues to oversee the growth of Heldeep Records while simultaneously pushing deeper into techno territory through HI-LO, a project that has become a fixture within the sets of artists such as Adam Beyer, Charlotte de Witte, Amelie Lens and Carl Cox.

Despite the evolution of his sound across multiple aliases and genres, tracks such as ‘Satisfy’ serve as a reminder of the qualities that first connected Heldens with audiences worldwide: infectious grooves, strong songwriting and an instinctive understanding of what makes people move.

‘Satisfy’ lands via Heldeep Records on June 12.
