Molly Lollen unveils latest single “Späti Girls”rooted in Berlin’s multicultural landscape

Some tracks take months to come together. Molly Lollen’s latest single, Späti Girls, took shape over the course of a three-hour night bus journey to Hamburg.

Written almost entirely while travelling to a club show, the record began to reveal itself as he paired a set of Middle Eastern vocals with a swinging, groove-led rhythm, an approach that sits outside his usual production style. Rather than returning to familiar territory, he embraced the unexpected direction, allowing the track to evolve naturally.

“I found the vocals, added swing to the groove, and everything suddenly clicked,” he says. “I knew exactly what the track had to be called.”

The title itself had existed long before the music. “Späti Girls” began as an inside joke between Lollen and a friend over a year earlier, but hearing the finished groove immediately brought the phrase back to him. It became the obvious name for a track that feels deeply rooted in Berlin’s identity.

For Molly Lollen, Späti Girls is more than a club record. The contrast between its Middle Eastern vocals and European groove reflects the cultural landscape of Berlin itself, a city where influences from across the world meet on dancefloors every weekend. As someone with Tunisian and Polish heritage who now calls Berlin home, that blend became a personal source of inspiration throughout the writing process.

The track received its first test just hours after it was finished, when Lollen dropped it during his set in Hamburg. The reaction immediately confirmed what he had hoped while producing it, with the record becoming one of the standout moments of the night.

“It ended up being one of the strongest moments of my set. What made it special was that it connected with exactly the crowd I had imagined while making it.”

Since its release, the concept has continued to grow beyond the music itself. Inspired by the phrase that started as an inside joke, Lollen has also produced a run of Späti Girls T-shirts, turning a passing joke into both a record and a wearable piece of Berlin culture.

With its infectious swing, cross-cultural influences and unmistakably Berlin attitude, Späti Girls showcases another side of Molly Lollen’s sound while celebrating the diverse influences that continue to shape the city’s electronic music scene. Sometimes the strongest ideas emerge somewhere between one city and the next, and in this case, on the journey to the dancefloor.
