Hi LUCRE, how’s everything going right now?
Great! Thank you for having me.
You’ve had a strong run of releases lately — how are you feeling about the momentum you’ve built so far?
I'm feeling great! The momentum is strong, and the energy is really flowing - excited to keep it going!
How would you describe the current direction of your sound and how it’s evolving?
I have been pushing more into the raw Techno space at the moment, but I see my direction more about my evolution as an artist and not staying confined to a certain standard or expectation.
Out of your recent tracks, do you have a personal favourite? Which one do you feel best captures where you’re at creatively?
‘Phantom’ and ‘Infinity’ were exciting projects to create and really allowed me to explore my creativity, but I’m even more thrilled about what’s coming next!
Can you give us a glimpse into what you’re working on at the moment — any exciting projects on the horizon?
There's a lot in the works. And not just Techno! My wife is contributing vocals on several upcoming tracks, and my sound continues to evolve in new and exciting ways.
How do you balance the creative side of your artistry with the business demands that come with building a career in music?
In many ways, I take a different approach than most artists. I consider myself a businessman first and an artist second. Building structure and developing a clear path from a business perspective comes naturally to me.
Looking back on your journey since 2020, how would you sum it up — and where do you hope it leads you over the next five years?
Like any journey, there have been ups and downs, but I feel a breakthrough is on the horizon. I'm grateful to have balance in my life beyond music, but it's clear my sound is beginning to gain meaningful recognition. There's no doubt in my mind that the next five years will be pivotal.
What does your creative process typically look like? Walk us through what goes into crafting a LUCRE track from start to finish.
I don’t force the creative process. I prefer to sit at my computer, explore, and experiment. While I might listen to other artists for inspiration, some of my best work has come from simply playing with sounds, creating a unique kick, discovering a compelling bassline, and letting the process unfold naturally. Scheduling studio time doesn't work for me, it’s all about allowing the creativity to flow organically. I tend to keep going when I’m in a good flow. I prefer to complete most of the work in one sitting, then return the next day with fresh ears to assess whether it’s as strong as it seemed the day before. If it passes the test, I finalize it and move forward.
Let’s talk live sets — how do you go about preparing for performances, and how do you adapt your sets to different venues or crowds?
It's essential to read the room when performing live. While I primarily produce techno, I believe in adapting my set to create a unique experience for the audience. While I always play what resonates with me, I aim to take listeners on a dynamic journey, blending Techno, House, and other genres to keep the experience engaging and fresh.
Is there a dream label, festival, or artist you’d love to work with or release under in the future?
Absolutely. Drumcode and Armada are at the top of my list of labels, and I’m consistently pursuing opportunities with them. As for artists, there are many I admire, but I’d love to explore remixing in the industrial Rock space within Techno. I’m confident that my time will come.
Finally, how do you hope your music connects with listeners? What are you aiming to make them feel through your work?
I hope my music demonstrates not only my versatility as an artist but also my commitment to authenticity. While certain genres may be trending, I don’t create music based on what's popular. My goal is for listeners to understand the importance of staying true to oneself, never following trends, focusing on what truly resonates, and doing what makes you happy. The most freeing feeling is letting go of worry and simply doing what you want.
