French techno innovator Quelza debuts on Dekmantel's UFO series
Frenchman Quelza is to release his first EP on Dekmantel's UFO series on 23 May and it is another compelling exploration of new school techno.
Léo Naït Aïssa is the man behind the Quelza project and he is one of contemporary techno's most innovative producers. He has previously made his mark with tunes on the likes of Tommy Four Seven’s 47 imprint and Hayes Collective, remixes of Hudson Mohawke and picked up props from scene favourite Objekt, who he plays back-to-back with at Soundit Festival in July.
Quelza’s sounds pairs cinematic design with elements of breakbeat and IDM and has taken him to the likes of Awakenings, Berghain, Bassiani and Fabric, while this summer he returns to play Dekmantel festival amongst many more gigs.
This new EP comes after his performance at Dekmantel Ten last summer showed off his knack for creating evocative, atmospheric soundscapes which echo the FO series’ extraterrestrial theme. It features four atmospheric tracks that sink you deep into his world.
