Cafe 1001 to Mark 25 Years with Anniversary Weekend on Brick Lane
East London venue Cafe 1001 has announced a two-day programme of events to mark its 25th anniversary on 28 and 29 August at its longstanding Brick Lane home.
The events begin on Friday 28 August with a late-night event headlined by Charlie Dark. Also appearing on the opening night is long-time Cafe 1001 collaborator Chris Wheatley, with more artists to be announced.
Saturday's programme will feature performances from Cafe 1001 residents and regular contributors including Lucide, Gaby D'Annunzio, Hannah Lamb and Eman Pav, alongside the venue's 1001 All-Stars collective.
The anniversary events coincide with Cafe 1001's European Hi-Fi Tour, a year-long initiative connecting the venue with a network of listening spaces and music communities across Europe with collaborations planned alongside spaces including The Big Romance in Dublin, Kasheme in Zurich, PAAK Vinyl in Nijmegen, Unkompress in Berlin and Boavista Social Club in Porto.
Established on Brick Lane in the late 1990s, Cafe 1001 has been a fixture of East London's nightlife and cultural landscape for more than two decades. Over that period, it has hosted DJs, live acts and community-focused events spanning electronic music, alternative culture and emerging talent development.
