Against All Ødds is no stranger to making waves in the electronic scene. With releases on powerhouse labels like IMPRESSUM, Tomorrowland Music, Filth on Acid and Zerothree, his sound has always evolved subtly while maintaining a distinct emotional depth. His latest single, Faded, released on Zerothree in January, is a testament to his ability to craft tracks that resonate both on the dancefloor and on a more personal level.
"Faded draws its inspiration from Tiësto’s legendary early trance productions, which left a profound mark on me," Against All Ødds explains. "The lyrics and melody explore the feeling of alienation in today’s fast-paced world, capturing the journey of someone searching for their place and true identity." With its soaring melodies, driving grooves and evocative vocals, the track has already become a top peak-time anthem.
Having previously delivered standout releases on Zerothree, including Agartha which received support from tastemakers like Armin van Buuren, Magit Cacoon and Miss Monique, Against All Ødds has solidified his reputation as an artist who consistently delivers. Faded follows suit, building on his signature main room sound.
When it comes to selecting the right label for his music, Against All Ødds is highly intentional. "I choose labels that I genuinely connect with and that align with my vision. It's crucial to work with a label that actively supports and promotes your music. At the end of the day, it's a business partnership, so finding the right fit—one that believes in you and helps you grow—is key."
His creative process is equally thoughtful and immersive. "I spend a few days fully absorbing the style I want to create. Finding the right synth to set the tone is always my starting point. Once I have that, I build the track around it," he shares. For Faded, he experimented extensively with gate effects and vocal processing to create the track's rich, dynamic sound. "I wanted to evoke a sense of confusion, that feeling of being lost, but as the song progresses, it mirrors the journey of finding clarity and self-discovery."
A defining aspect of Against All Ødds' music is his ability to blend multiple electronic sub-genres seamlessly. His approach to sound design is meticulous, ensuring each element in his tracks has both depth and presence. "I rely heavily on my gut feeling. Once it feels complete, I know it's done."
Reflecting on his journey in the electronic music industry, he sees genres as constantly evolving. "Musical styles are like a wheel, cycling back but always incorporating new elements that redefine them. Many emerging artists succeed by striking the right balance between old and new, creating something fresh that still resonates."
One of the most valuable pieces of advice he has received is to be patient with his music. "Take your time when creating tracks—rushing can lead to disappointing results. Work on it until you truly feel its magic and connection. Once it’s released, there’s no turning back, so make sure it’s the best version possible."
Looking ahead, Against All Ødds has a packed schedule, both in the studio and on the road. "I'm working on a lot of new music and finalising my tour schedule. I can already share that I’ll be in Ibiza and Germany, which I’m super excited about! Stay tuned for more shows, new releases, and updates."
