Armin van Buuren and DIØN collide on new single ‘Burn It Up’

Armin van Buuren and DIØN have joined forces on ‘Burn It Up’, a high-impact collaboration featuring UK MC Scruffizer, set for release via Armada Music on August 14.

First premiered during Armin van Buuren’s show at Amsterdam Dance Event in 2025, the track brings together two artists operating at different ends of the electronic music spectrum. Van Buuren’s trance foundations meet the harder, more abrasive energy that has defined DIØN’s rise, driven by pounding percussion, surging synths and Scruffizer’s vocals.

The collaboration arrives as DIØN continues to push beyond the darker hard techno sound that initially established his name. Following recent singles ‘Come Alive’, ‘Taka Tribe’ and ‘Pulsation’, ‘Burn It Up’ sees the Dutch producer leaning further into hard dance while opening up his sound to influences outside the genre.

It is a shift already playing out beyond the studio. DIØN has built a growing presence across the European circuit, appearing at Awakenings, Verknipt, Soenda and Mysteryland, with ‘Burn It Up’ also finding its way into his set at Awakenings Upclose earlier this year.

His rise has been backed by support from names including Sara Landry, Amelie Lens, Nico Moreno and Fatima Hajji, while releases through Armada Music and his own Rough Material Records have helped establish a platform for the increasingly broad direction of the project.

For van Buuren, ‘Burn It Up’ taps into the harder sounds that have become increasingly prominent across contemporary dance floors while retaining the melodic DNA behind much of his catalogue. The five-time DJ Mag Top 100 winner, Grammy nominee and Armada Music co-founder has spent more than two decades moving between trance and the wider electronic landscape.

Rather than simply placing those two worlds side by side, ‘Burn It Up’ finds common ground in their shared appetite for scale and intensity. It is a collision between trance and hard dance built squarely for peak-time rooms.
