For the first time during two days in Amsterdamse Bos Charlotte de Witte, Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin, Fjaak and others will make their appearance at 909 Festival on 3 & 4 June

On Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 June, the Amsterdamse Bos will be dedicated to the 909 Festival. After celebrating its tenth anniversary in 2022, two days are now being set aside for the first time for the festival that pays homage to the Roland TR-909, the iconic drum machine that gave birth to today's house and techno.

In total, almost fifty artists have been confirmed for the first weekend of June. Among them are Charlotte de Witte and Henrik Schwarz (LIVE) who will make their debut at 909 Festival. Also Sama Abdulhadi, Kobosil and Mr. Scruff travel to the Amsterdamse Bos for the first time. There they meet pioneers such as Jeff Mills, Masters at Work, Speedy & Steve LIVE (Speedy J & Sterac), Sven Väth and Richie Hawtin.

Finally, there is plenty of room for up-and-coming talent, both nationally and internationally. SAMA, Tjade and Vân Anh, among others, take the stage from their own country, while Chlär, who was born in Switzerland, but lives in Germany, and the German Marlon Hoffstadt have also been recorded by 909 Festival.

Roland TR-909 Rhythm Composer

The name of the 909 Festival is taken from the TR-909 Rhythm Composer. In the mid-1980s, creative masterminds used the TR-909 differently than the designers intended, resulting in bass drums and hi-hats dominating four-four time in electronic music.

909 festival developed a digital version of the composer. It is available online on desktop and smartphone (and for anyone with an internet connection). In addition, tickets for 909 Festival will be given away to anyone who shows and hears that he or she has mastered the analogue version of the TR-909 Rhythm Composer.
